Richard Philipp Uselman, 67, passed away at his home in Leaf River Township on Wednesday morning, June 13, 2007.
He was born July 15, 1939 to Paul and Julia (Ferris) Uselman in Wadena. He lived in the Wadena area his entire life. He married Shirley Seidl on Oct. 29, 1960, in Wadena. Well-known in the area, he owned and operated his own excavating and dozing business, as well as a truck repair business, for more than 30 years. His son, Rick, worked along his side for the last several years, as Dick enjoyed "semi-retirement." He enjoyed life fully and especially loved cars. From a young age, he was a stock car race driver.
He was a member of the Wadena Elks Lodge and the Wadena Fire Department. He enjoyed car racing, dinner and movies, and spending time with his family.
The funeral mass was held Saturday, June 16, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena with the Rev. Donald Wagner celebrating. Interment is in the Calvary Cemetery in Wadena. The pallbearers were Dennis Loween, Larry Uselman, Luther Wiirre, Joe Rousslang, Larry Kneisl, Dave Rousslang, Dennis Richter and Kevin Blonigen. Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley; daughters, Tamara (John) Haglin of Maplewood, Monica (Vance) Nelson of Lindstrom, Jennifer (Kyle) Braith of Staples, and Nicole (Mark) Lunde of Brainerd; sons, Rick (Laura) of Wadena and Daniel of Big Lake; 12 grandchildren; sister, Judy (Luther) Wiirre of Wadena; and brother, Bruce of Inver Grove Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Julia.
