Darrell Dennis Wilcox, 66, of rural Sebeka, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 2, 1943, to Shubert and Dorothy (Quaintance) Wilcox in Owatonna, Minn. He was a well-known man who for years planted potatoes and was a truck driver. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and being with family and friends. He also enjoyed joking around and playing cards. He was a stubborn man, but very subtle. When he knew something, he knew it. He gave a helping hand to those in need. Many will greatly miss him and he will never be forgotten.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 8, at Bethany Free Lutheran Church in Bluegrass, with the Rev. Johannes Marsland officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Boyer, Steve Engebretson and Ernie Albert. Active casketbearers were Justin Grenwald, Randy Grenwald, Norman Hershberger, Danny Johnson, Eric Koskiniemi, Bruce Schlupp, Jeremiah Johnson and Billy Crego. Interment is at Lyons Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home of Sebeka.
Survivors include three daughters, Holly (Billy) Crego of St. Cloud, Alicia (Eric) Koskiniemi of New York Mills, and Danyelle Wilcox of St. Cloud, Minn.; three sons, Dennis (Mary) Wilcox of Verndale, Brian Wilcox of Rosemead, Calif., and Dana (DeElla) Wilcox of St. Cloud, Minn.; two sisters, LaVonne Hershberger of Bixby, Minn., and LaDonna Hansen of Hewitt; five grandchildren; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ervin Wilcox; and one son, Michael Wilcox.
