Dale Elmer Worden, 69, of Underwood, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls.

He was born March 24, 1938, in Aldrich, the son of Idel and Vernie (Gessner) Worden. His family moved from Aldrich to a farm near Verndale, where he attended school, graduating from high school in 1956. He worked for a time as a farm hand in the Fort Ransom area. He then attended a tech school in Chicago, receiving training in diesel mechanics. He worked for Butler Machine in Fargo.

On May 28, 1960, he married Norma Chipman in Moran Methodist Church, rural Staples. The couple moved to Minneapolis, where he worked for a construction company, and later for Ziegler. On Dec. 5, 1961, he joined the Army and was stationed in Mannheim, Germany. He was discharged in November 1963 and returned to the Minneapolis area, resuming his job with Ziegler. In 1968, he and Norma moved to Fergus Falls where he became the field service representative for Ziegler. In 1983, they moved to West Lost Lake where he lived until recently when he moved to the Pioneer Retirement Community. He retired from Ziegler in October 2006, after 40 years of service.

He enjoyed restoring old equipment, fishing, deer hunting, yard work and carving fishing decoys.

He was a member of Tingvold Lutheran Church, the Underwood Legion, the Rough Riders Snowmobile Club, the 49'ers Union, the England Prairie Pioneer Club, the Western Minnesota Steam Threshermen's Reunion, the Stearns County Pioneer Club, along with the Nut Busters Club.

The service was held Thursday, Sept. 13, at Tingvold Lutheran Church, rural Underwood, with the Rev. Scott Mikkelson officiating. Burial was in Tingvold Lutheran Cemetery, rural Underwood. Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Underwood; his daughter, Myla, Gregor of Fergus Falls; his son, Paul (Becky) Worden of Bismarck, N.D.; three grandchildren; his sister, Lorraine Sellnow of Bertha; three brothers, Donald (Lucy) Worden of Kerkhoven, Minn., Duaine (Nancy) Worden of Dixon, Calif., and Daryl Worden of Wadena; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Thiesen and June Bjone; and one brother, Dallas Worden.
