The community continues to keep the Cyber Cafe in mind when it comes to grants and other financial support.
The non-profit youth technology center in downtown Wadena recently received a $2,000 grant made possible by the Walter Goedel Charitable Fund. A large donation from Goedel sparked the development of the Cyber, which opened eight years ago.
The money will go toward technology updates, said Randy Jahnke, Cyber Cafe director.
Other recent grants the Cyber has received were requested by local residents. Mayor Wayne Wolden applied for and the Cyber Cafe received a gift of 100 compact florescent light bulbs from Ulteig.
Carol Derby requested and the Cyber was awarded a $250 grant from Wal-Mart, Jahnke said.

Wolden stops at the Cyber every morning to drink coffee, read the newspaper and talk about events in the greater Wadena area, he said. The Cyber and the people there create opportunities for young people to be entertained in a safe place.
"It's critical in our community," he said.
Events such as Knitting for a Cause, Cyber Fiesta and the St. Patrick's Day party also help raise money for the Cyber Cafe.
