The Wadena Cross-Country Ski Association is looking for skiing enthusiasts to join the group. This is not a group that meets a lot, but is a group that sees to it that there is a snowmobile and groomer with willing volunteers to groom the six miles of trails at Black's Grove Park.

Behind the scenes, the city parks department and volunteers work together to get the trails ready for use by the first snow fall, which has now happened.

This will be the second winter to enjoy skiing on the trails groomed with the new Ginzu track setter, donated by the Harrison Family Foundation. Ski trail maps are available at Black's Grove Park, the Wadena Area Chamber of Commerce or online at www.wadena.org . Want to borrow cross-country skies, boots and poles? Call Paul Anderson at (218) 631-2982.

Memberships and support are needed annually to maintain the snowmobile, pay for its insurance and fuel as well as to cover postage and support upgrades to the trail system. While these funds are only used to support winter use, spring through fall, area residents use the park for hiking, looking for wildflowers, birds and wildlife, pole walking, mountain biking or watching the sun set.

Please consider becoming a member as an individual or family or just make a donation in an amount of your choice. There is a container at the trail head to put in donations or contact Diane Schiller Anderson, the Cross Country Ski Association treasurer at djpines2@wcta.net or (218) 631-1315.
