A three-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. Highway 10 by Otter Tail County Road 75 on Monday at 10:45 a.m., one of a slew of crashes that day on snowy roads around Minnesota. According to the state patrol website, a vehicle not involved in the accident was eastbound on U.S. Highway 10 waiting to make a left turn. A 2001 Chevy Impala behind it driven by 23-year-old Philip M. Vaughn of New York Mills could not slow down in time, swerved into the westbound lanes and struck a westbound 1997 Ford Expedition driven by 27-year-old Christina Spiering of New York Mills. An eastbound 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 83-year-old Denton Jacobs of St. Cloud then struck the Chevy Impala as it separated from the Ford Expedition. Spiering was treated and released, Jacobs had no apparent injury and Vaughn's condition was not documented. A 5-year-old and a 1-year-old in the Ford Expedition were also taken to the hospital to check on their condition, but they sustained no apparent injury. Wadena Police Department and Tri-County Ambulance were on the scene. All the drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts.
