The Wadena City Council approved a new 2012 contract with Flaherty & Hood to continue lobbying for the proposed wellness center.
The contract is for $10,000 like the 2011 contract. More than $2,000 was left unspent from the 2011 contract, and that money was approved to go into the general fund.
Of the four council members present at the beginning of the meeting, Don Niles, Mayor Wayne Wolden and Jeanette Baymler voted in favor of the contract with Toby Pierce voting no.
Baymler reminded the council that city administrator Brad Swenson had been designated as the wellness center project manager a long time ago.

Swenson said there was a need for better communication and waiting to move on projects only when there was action taken at a public meeting. He also said they should schedule a special meeting early in the day for several hours to work out wellness center details.
