A Menahga man faces an assault charge after allegedly breaking another man's ribs in a fight.

Around 11:24 p.m. on May 6, Menahga police responded to a report of an assault.

The victim said Nicholas Donald Patson, 43, came to his house and sat down in a chair, telling the victim he planned to stay over at his house for the night, according to a Wadena County court complaint. The victim said Patson grabbed a refrigerator rack and threw it at him, then grabbed his neck and twisted it, choking him. He was later diagnosed with four broken ribs, court records said.

Patson was charged July 20 with third-degree assault, a felony. His first court appearance was scheduled for Aug. 16.
