A fourth-grade boy is OK after falling off a float during Friday's Homecoming parade, the school principal said.

The boy was a passenger on a low-riding float, and near the end of the parade, was pushed and fell off the float, Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary Principal Louis Rutten said.

"I think there was some horsing around," Rutten said of the incident.

Rutten said the boy fell from the float and landed on his knees and hands, and bit his lip. Otherwise he was OK.

The float was immediately stopped, and the boy was taken care of, Rutten said.

"His mom was right there," he said.

Rutten said the school tries to send a message to students that they need to be careful during the parade.

"People get excited and wave at friends and family," he said. "They get pretty amped up."
