MnDOT crews dug into Jefferson Street (Hwy 71) in Wadena Wednesday in an effort to get some early information about a planned project for 2023.

MnDOT is planning a full depth reclamation on the roadway between Franklin Avenue and Elm Avenue. That type of reconstruction is said to result in longer lasting pavement, according to James Gillach, public affairs coordinator for MnDOT. Sidewalk and gutter will also be replaced, pedestrian ramps improved to meet modern standards, and traffic signals will be modified to include pedestrian push button pedestals and audible count-down indicators, according to Gillach.

"We're still working on the full scope of work, but it'll likely require a detour," Gillach said.
