Robert Milton McIntire, 66, passed away Sept. 27, 2008, at his home in Wadena, with his family at his side after a battle with cancer.
He was born June 2, 1942 to Joseph and Marian McIntire. He graduated from Bertha High School in 1960. He married Marlys Ann Lowers in 1962 and they were blessed with two sons, Robert and Wade.
He began his career with Homecrest in 1962 and worked there until his retirement in 2002. He was well known for his knowledge and expertise in the manufacturing of Homecrest's high-end patio furniture. He was gifted in making friends and these friendships have lasted a lifetime. He served the community on the Wadena City Council, Wadena School Board, Lions Club, Knob Hill Club, Wednesday Library Club and many other community activities. He enjoyed deer hunting, elk hunting, prairie dog hunting at the Dosch Ranch in South Dakota, fishing, golfing, many walks and hunts with his dog and companion Duke, and fixing things with duct tape and WD-40. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and he loved sharing stories about them.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2 in the New Life Church of God in Bertha with the Rev. Mark Brown officiating. Interment was in the Zion Cemetery in Bertha. Pallbearers are Tim Reynolds, Sean McIntire, Corey McIntire, Dennis Olson, Bruce Erdahl and Jim Gealow. Arrangements are with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marlys; his sons, Robert Jr. (Vickie) of Litchfield, Wade (Darlene) of Green Bay, Wis.; six grandchildren; brothers, Stanley (Juanita) McIntire of Billings, Mont., Allen (Mary Lou) McIntire of Cedar; sister, Jeanne McIntire of Chevy Chase, Md.; mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Roselle Lowers of Bertha; nieces and nephews, cousins; and numerous other close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chuck; sister, Vera; and niece, Angela.
