Robert (Bob) Edward Juntunen, 73, of Sebeka, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
He was born June 25, 1935, to Edward and Mayme (Roiko) Juntunen at the Roiko homestead in Rockwood Township near Sebeka. He graduated in 1953 from Sebeka Public School. He served in the Army from Nov. 26, 1958, to Sept. 20, 1960. He was stationed in Germany and was on a competition rifle team. He returned to the area and helped his grandmother Olga Roiko on the dairy farm. He married Doris Nelson Roiko on Nov. 16, 1963, and became an instant father to William, Joanne, Richard and David Roiko. He and Doris dairy farmed until 1970 and then switched to beef cattle. They also raised hogs for many years. They always put in a huge vegetable garden and worked together maintaining a large yard and beautiful flower beds. He enjoyed watching all sports, was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and working out in the woods. He always loved visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, at Blowers Chapel with the Rev. David Wing officiating. Honorary pallbearers are all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active casketbearers are Ryan Roiko, Barry Novitzki, Kyle Arenkiel, Matt Dillon, Matt Erickson and Greg Sniezek. The Berg Nylund American Legion Post 456 of Sebeka will provide military honors. Interment will be at Haycreek Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home Sebeka.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Doris Juntunen of Sebeka; his sister, Carol Gigmac of Green Bay, Wis.; his brother, Jim Juntunen (Sue) of Milwaukee, Wis.; his children, William Roiko (Linda) of Wadena, Joanne Derby (Jim) of Wadena, Richard Roiko (JoAnne) of Sebeka, and David Roiko (Debbie) of Glenwood, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Juntunen; and sister, Margie Doucette.
