Four Bears scored in double figures Thursday as Bertha-Hewitt trounced the Pirates 63-33 in a Park Region Confence boys' basketball game at Verndale.
Gavin Dettwiler led the Bears with 18 points while Jeremy Frethem scored 17, Patrick Riewer netted 11 and Ryan Denny tacked up 10. The Bears shot 52 percent from the field.
Zack Meidinger and Jason Runyan were double figure scorers for Verndale with 16 and 11 tallies respectively. The Pirates shot a cool 26 percent from the floor.
The state-ranked Bears held the Pirates to just 11 points in the first half en route to building a 20-point lead.
The Pirates will travel to Laporte Thursday and will host New York Mills Friday.
