Benson qualifies for State

Wadena-Deer Creek FFA member, Ethan Benson, qualified for state FFA competition by placing fifth place at the FFA Region II Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event recently.

The four-hour long contest was held at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. During the contest, FFA members from 19 schools from FFA Region II took a test on general agricultural mechanics and participated in practicums involving small gas engines, wall construction, electrical wiring and welding. Students also identified round baler parts and gleaned information from an owner's manual for a forage harvester.

The Minnesota State FFA Convention will be held at the University of Minnesota, St.Paul and Minneapolis campuses, April 24-26.

Benson is a senior at WDC High School and is the son of Roger and Deanna Benson of Bluffton.
