A veteran coach and teacher at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa High School was hit by a semitrailer truck and killed while riding his bicycle on a dark highway early Tuesday.
B-B-E wrestling coach and math teacher Richard C. Vos, 38, died in the collision, according to the State Patrol.
According to the State Patrol, the semi and the bicyclist were both traveling south on Highway 71 at about 4:50 a.m. Tuesday near County Road 34 in Kandiyohi County.
The semi driver was identified as 50-year-old Brian L. Anderson, of Belgrade. Anderson was not hurt in the collision.
According to a blog from B-B-E's booster club, Vos began teaching at the high school in 1998 and was an assistant varsity wrestling coach until he took over as head coach in 2001.
