Beatrice "Bea" Marie Setterholm, 95, of New York Mills, passed away March 21, 2009, at the Elders' Home in New York Mills.
She was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Staples, to Joseph and Wilhemina "Minnie" (Deurr) Martin. She grew up in Tamarack, Minn., and moved to Pillager when she was 16 years old. She graduated from New York Mills High School with the class of 1931. She attended cosmopolitan school in St. Paul. She was a career hairdresser, she was employed in Minneapolis and also owned and operated her own salon in New York Mills. On April 3, 1939, she married Earl W. Setterholm. He passed away in 1970. She took pleasure in her retirement in New York Mills where she was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, doll collecting and was a charter member of Federated Women's Club. She made her home at the Elders' Home in New York Mills since March 2004.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 24, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New York Mills with the Rev. Ryan Stout officiating. The pallbearers were Chad Setterholm, Bret Setterholm, Kurt Setterholm, Mark Heino, Gary Anderson and Rick Anderson. The honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren, Talyn Setterholm and Cailyn Setterholm. She was laid to rest in St. Peter's Cemetery, New York Mills. Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Barbara) Setterholm of Moundsview and Roger (Gloria) Setterholm of Battle Lake; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; son, Charles; and sister, Dorothy "Dot" Anderson.
