The Wadena Chamber of Commerce honored those who have gone above and beyond for the Wadena community at a ceremony Monday night, Feb. 1.
The chamber presented Jeanette Baymler with the Person of the Year Award. Baymler is a longtime Wadena resident. She's active in her church, the Wadena County Food Shelf, and currently serves on the Wadena City Council.
Baymler was honored as all nine of her children were in attendance at the banquet.
Wadena-Deer Creek Superintendent Virginia Dahlstrom was presented with the chamber's Community Service Award. The award was presented by Ann Pate, WDC School Board president.
Dahlstrom has been superintendent at WDC Schools since July 2008. She was instrumental in guiding the passage of last November's school referendum, as well as moving WDC Schools into the 21st century by improving academic standards, implementing technology and working with the school board to balance the budget during challenging times for many rural schools. She is active in the Chamber, Wadena Rotary, and both Wadena and Bluffton Lions.
