Thirty boys and girls attended the babysitting class on Saturday, Jan. 2 on the Wadena campus of Tri-County Health Care.
Students ages 11 and older received training from Carla Johnson, NCTMB; Jenna Saewert, assistant; Sharon Heinen, Paramedic; and George Kveton, EMT.
The clinic covered basic responsibilities of caring for infants and children, including diapering and feeding techniques, game ideas, tips for bedtime issues and how to have a safe experience. Students also learned how to perform first-aid, choose safe age-appropriate toys and how to handle emergencies that arise such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents. Students were also coached on how to interview for potential jobs and how they can be good role models.
Another babysitting class is being planned for the spring. Watch Tri-County Health Care's website and Facebook page for dates and times.
