Residences in close proximity to a home on Runestone Drive in east Alexandria were evacuated for safety reasons after a standoff with a male suspect inside the home.

Law enforcement, including the Douglas County SWAT team, were called to the home on Runestone Drive about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

According to law enforcement, there was a domestic dispute between a man and woman inside the house and the man became suicidal. The woman was able to safely get out of the house and was taken to a squad car.

Law enforcement officials tried to make contact with the man, who was identified as 23-year-old Kirk Pollard of Alexandria, inside the residence. Pollard reportedly had at least three weapons, including a handgun inside the home.

After about an hour-long standoff, with numerous law enforcement officials surrounding the house, Pollard came out without incident and was taken into custody, according to law enforcement.
