Anna Alberta Wagner Waters Savolainen, 91, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Lakewood Systems Care Center in Staples.
She was born Dec. 24, 1915, to Charles and Bertha (Acuff) Wagner at Gwenville, Ind. She married Jouko Emil Savolainen in Fritchburg, Mass. She received her bachelor's degree in 1938 from Miami University of Ohio, located at Oxford, Ohio. She worked as a technical writer and editor, and a scientist. She was the first female member of the American Nuclear Society and in 1961 became an editor for ANS standards. She later became its first administrative secretary. She retired in 1987.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jouko; parents, Charles and Bertha; and brother, Walter.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Nelson, of Sebeka; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Wagner.
