The Kitchigami Regional Library System is sponsoring a beginning workshop for library users interested in tracing their family genealogy. Using library resources, the workshops, titled Ancestry Detectives 101, will be offered at the Wadena City Library at noon on Saturday, Oct. 30. As ancestry detectives, you are invited to find out who you are by searching for your ancestors. The workshops will provide an overview of the genealogical process and the resources that are available online at the libraries using Ancestry Library Edition and other resources.

"Having these resources available to library users is a wonderful asset for beginners in exploring their family genealogy and learning how to locate and process the information they find," said Rosemary Susens, instructor for the workshops.

It is recommended that those who register for the classes have a basic knowledge of computer use. The classes are free. Registration is

required and space is limited. To register, call the Wadena City Library at (218) 631-2476.

The Kitchigami Legacy Genealogy Project is an ongoing project, made possible with State of Minnesota Legacy Amendment funds to preserve Arts and Cultural Heritage. Additional beginning workshops and genealogy topics will be offered. Visit the Kitchigami website, krls.org, and click on Legacy Events for information on Genealogy Workshops and other Legacy Events.
