An Amish horse-drawn buggy was hit by a truck and the truck driver fled, according to the Todd County Sheriff's Office.

In a news release, the agency said it received a call from a man who was calling on behalf of an Amish man and woman who had just been hit in Eagle Valley Township, rural Browerville, around 10:29 a.m. on Jan. 1. The horse-drawn buggy had been westbound on Chapel Garden Road when the male driver heard a loud bang. His buggy then pushed into the ditch and rolled onto the side. The driver of the truck that struck him left the scene, the sheriff's office said. The occupants were uninjured.

The incident is still under investigation. Authorities did locate the driver of the suspect vehicle, but didn't release any more information at this time.
