Allen Lowell Erickson, 63, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born Sept. 16, 1945, to Walmer and Myrtle (Berglin) Erickson in Alexandria. He served in the Army Reserve and National Guard from 1966 through 1974. He married Kathryn Jeanne (Hovet) Erickson on Sept. 27, 1969 in Minneapolis. He will be remembered as a dedicated teacher, coach and athletic director at Sebeka High School for 34 years. He was a member of the American Legion, and Whitetail Run Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his family. He was a loving, caring, and giving man to his family, friends, and students.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 2 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Dale Olson officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Honorary pallbearers were all the young men he had the pleasure of coaching. Active pallbearers were Mathias Erickson, Nathan Erickson, Wayne Erickson, Ryan Lake, Chad Bettin, Larry Scott and Paul Harmeier. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena ( www.johnsonmemorialhome.com ).

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy; sons, Mathias (Sara) of Brainerd, and Nathan (Sara) of Sebeka; daughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Lake of New Prague, and Jill (Chad) Bettin of Avon, nine grandchildren; brother, Wayne Erickson of Alexandria; and sister, Gwen Schmidt of Lake Oswego, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walmer and Myrtle.
