A Staples man was injured after rolling his vehicle just after 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4 north of Staples.
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle rollover, where the driver was ejected at 4:10 p.m. on County Road 30 in Thomastown Township.
Upon deputy’s arrival, there was a Jeep Wrangler lying on its passenger side in the south ditch. The Staples Police Department along with a member of the Staples Fire Department were already on scene treating the male driver, Robert Stracek, 40, of Staples.
Law Enforcement learned Stracek was traveling north on Wadena County Road 30 when he swerved to avoid hitting a loose dog. This caused the vehicle to cross into the southbound lane and into the ditch, where Stracek, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. Stracek was treated on scene by Lakewood EMS and transported to Lakewood Hospital where he was met by North Memorial Air Care. Alcohol was not a contributing factor in the crash. Responding agencies were the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, Staples Police Department, Staples Fire Department along with Lakewood Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
