Emergency responders were called to a two-vehicle crash at 1:02 p.m., Saturday, March 23 at the intersection of County Road 23 and 370th Street in Shell River Township, just east of Menahga, according to a news release from the Wadena County Sheriff's Office.
Emergency personnel arrived to find Leslie Mattson, 80, Menahga, failed to stop for a stop sign while driving his minivan eastbound on 370th Street. Mattson drove through the intersection and was struck by a vehicle heading south on County Road 23. The driver of this vehicle was Wanda Kangas, 55, Menahga.
Mattson was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids with minor injuries.
A citation was issued as a result of the crash. Drugs and/or alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Menahga First Responders, Menahga Fire Department and Tri-County Ambulance.
