3 rescued from Stocking Lake after capsizing boat
Three anglers were rescued from Stocking Lake recently after their boat capsized.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 11:38 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12, from a woman who stated she was in a boat that capsized on Stocking Lake, near Menahga. The caller stated one of the other occupants that was in the boat was still missing somewhere in the water.
Law enforcement and medical personnel arrived in the area and eventually located the caller, identified as Susan Anderson, 50, of Excelsior. With Anderson was another boat occupant, Steve Turner, 51, of Grand Forks, ND. Both Anderson and Turner were very cold from being in the water. The third occupant of the boat was located about 150 yards from shore in chest deep water. He was eventually rescued from the water and identified as Donald Campbell, 48, of Shorewood. Anderson and Turner were medically cleared on scene and Campbell was transported to Park Rapids hospital for further treatment.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the MN DNR, Menahga Fire Department and First Responders and Tri-County Ambulance.
