MENAHGA, Minn. – A Nevis man was injured when a turkey flew out of a ditch and smashed through the windshield of a pickup in Wadena County in northwest Minnesota on Sunday afternoon, March 18, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Thomas Walls, 38, who was a passenger in the vehicle was treated for injuries that weren't life-threatening at Tri-County Health Care in Wadena, the Patrol reported.

Scott Taylor, 51, of Menahga, was driving a 1988 Ford pickup southbound on U.S. Highway 71 near Menahga when a turkey flew out of the west ditch and smashed through the windshield, striking Walls, according to the State Patrol.

He was taken by Tri-County Ambulance to Wadena for treatment, the report said.

The turkey was dispatched at the scene.
