Tuesday's winter storm turned tragic when a New York Mills woman died following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Centennial Drive and U.S. Highway 10.
Eunice Rantala, 80, was transported from the scene and pronounced dead at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena following the accident. Rantala was on Centennial Drive at the west end of town and attempted to cross Highway 10 when her vehicle was struck by a westbound pick-up pulling a trailer.
NY Mills Fire & Rescue, along with NY Mills Police Department, Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, and Minnesota State Patrol were at the scene. The crash occurred about noon during Tuesday's snowfall, and the weather may have contributed to the cause of the accident.
