White receives national volunteer recognition award

Jimmy White wears his newest pin on his VFW garrison cap.

Jim White, member of the Wadena Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3922, received a National Community Service Volunteer Recognition Award.

The award was given to White for volunteering 150 hours of community service for the 2015-16 year.

National VFW Commander-in-chief John A. Biedrzycki, Jr. and Lynn W. Rolf II, director of VFW Programs, congratulated White on the award.

Annually, VFW Post and Auxiliary representatives around the country and overseas volunteer almost eight million service hours and donate nearly $46 million to local community service programs.

Locally, White received the recognition pin for volunteering at Chamber of Commerce events, as a member of the Honor Guard for veteran funerals, helping with the veterans park, flag presentations and participating in area parades.
