An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday night in Wadena after allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old girl with an ink pen.

The Wadena Police Department responded to the Wadena-Deer Creek high school parking lot at 8:30 p.m. Monday on a report of an altercation. Officers learned the man stabbed the girl in the face with an ink pen. He was arrested for second-degree assault and violation of a harassment restraining order for protection, according to Wadena Police Chief Bruce Uselman.

The girl was taken by ambulance to Tri-County Hospital where she was treated for a laceration and wound to the lower jaw.

The Pioneer Journal will release the name of the suspect once formal charges have been filed.
