The Wadena City Library is happy to announce another free Legacy Arts Program this month.
Please join us in welcoming historical reenactor and educator Arn Kind back to Wadena with his brand-new program:
"Minnesota's Wild and Woolly Prohibition Days" on Monday, March 12 at 5 p.m. at the First Congregational UCC Church in Wadena.
Always informative and entertaining, Arn will lead an interactive show about the 18th Amendment and how it changed the lives of many people in Minnesota. You will hear stories about gangsters, speakeasies, the Feds and how average people all over the state went about producing their own illegal spirits. This is a scheduled two-hour presentation.
Every second Tuesday of each month, the Friends of the Library book discussion group meets at St. Helen's church, just south of the library.

This month they are reading and discussing "The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry," a novel by author Gabrielle Zevin. Plenty of books are available at the library; just ask for a copy at the circulation desk. Please stop by, have some coffee and meet some of the more dedicated readers in Wadena.
Library staff was notified that we will no longer be able to include the list of newly acquired items with this column. We realize that many of you enjoyed seeing the new items we had available in order to check them out or place holds on them. In the future, we will be listing the new items as often as possible through our social media site (Facebook). "Like" or "Follow" us to see what new items we get in first. If you aren't on social media, we will post a list of new materials monthly by the New Books display against the north wall of the library. Also, we always put new materials on display first, instead of shelving them in the stacks.
The Wadena County Historical Museum is hosting Jan Smith Thursday, March 15, at noon at the Museum for a women's history presentation as part of its Minnesota Voices series.
History comes alive with storyteller Jan Smith. Her impersonation of Amelia Jenks Bloomers, the 1800′s women's dress and rights reformer, provides an educational and entertaining look at women's history. This is a free event.
Snow Time to Read, the Wadena City Library's adult reading program concludes at the end of March. There is still time to register and read five books to qualify for the prize drawing on Monday, April 2. (The first name pulled from the drawing last year was for a patron who only read five books.) Please stop by the library to pick up a reading log, or head to www.krls.org to register online.
