WADENA — The book, Olav Audunsson, by Nobel Prize-winning author, Sigrid Undset, will be featured on BookEnds Online Edition this month.  Laura Michelle Diener, associate professor of history, will present this epic story of medieval Norway at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10 via ZOOM Meeting ID: 867 0338 5655.

Sigrid Undset's gift was to take readers inside the hearts and minds of people who lived and worked, struggled and connived in the fjords, villages, farms and estates of thirteenth-century Norway.  In this new translation by Tiina Nunnally, the characters come to life in clear, lyrical prose. Here we have the story of Olav Audunsson and Inguun Steinfeinnsdatter, betrothed as children.

BookEnds is produced by the Wadena County Historical Society and is made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.  Recordings of this and earlier BookEnds authors are available at  www.WadenaCountyHistory.org

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
