Mixed Blood Theatre will present Theory of Mind in Perham at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 at the ITOW Veterans Museum.
Admission to this theater event is $12 advance sale (call (218) 385-3339 for tickets) or $15 the evening of the play. Student admission is always $5. The play is jointly presented by the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center and In Their Own Words Veterans Museum of Perham.
Theory of Mind, a play written by By Ken LaZebnik and directed by Jack Reuler, depicts the experiences of an adolescent youth who lives his life on the "autism spectrum." The play doesn't try to teach us about autism, but rather portrays the authentic life of a young man with Asperger's Syndrome. As with all of Mixed Blood Theatre events, there will be time for the audience to talk about the play with the cast and crew after the performance.
Theory of Mind is one of five shows that Mixed Blood Theatre will tour in the 2010-11 season. This performance is made possible with support from the arts and culture legacy amendment approved by the citizens of Minnesota in 2008. With its touring program, Mixed Blood promotes pluralism throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest with entertaining shows that portray role models of color and with disabilities, allowing those with differences to see themselves reflected on stage in important ways.
