We can celebrate freedom in Christ every day

Beginning July 1 to Dec. 31 we have only 184 days left of 2017. We have been so busy that this year just flew by. What have you been doing this year? Remember, only what's done for Christ will last! "For the world is passing away and the lusts thereof; but he that does the will of God abides forever." I John 2:17.

We looked forward to celebrating our freedom as a nation on July 4. However, we can celebrate each day of freedom in Christ our Savior, who bore our sins and made us his perfect righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Serving our risen Savior each day makes for a new adventure; never a dull moment. If life is too dull for you, make a list of several things you may yet accomplish. Then go do them!

God offers everyone the gift of eternal life. We can accept or refuse.

As we celebrate freedom, we can be thankful we can hear God's offer. In some places that message must be hidden.

Celebrate freedom and God's offer this week in church.

Prayer for our nation: Thank you, Lord, for the lavish blessing of freedoms, including our religious freedom. Give to the leaders of our land moral integrity, discernment, humility, and unity of purpose. Protect those who protect us. Silence the violence so that people in need may be fed, clothed and educated. Let our country be a beacon of hope to nations throughout the world. In Jesus' name. Amen.

This is a pivotal time in the history of the world and for all of us as the body of Christ. In recent years, the gospel has spread like wildfire across the continents. As it does, millions find peace and purpose for their lives and the assurance of eternity in heaven.

Christian freedom finds its source in the forgiving, enabling, empowering love and grace of Jesus Christ, whose life-giving death on the cross and power-filled resurrection has set us free from sin's curse and death's finality.
