It's been four years since the last in-person Wine and Chocolate fundraiser was held at the Depot in Wadena — but it's back! The Feb. 11 event will be bigger and, hopefully, better than ever.
In one incident, a stray tan boxer was found. The dog barked and growled at the officer. The owner was advised they would be cited if they receive any more calls about the dog outside of the yard.
Nathan Runyan, the 36-year-old Verndale man who needed emergency surgery following a major heart attack on Oct. 11, is expected to leave the hospital soon, but will require a long recovery period.
Members of the public, along with Wadena-Deer Creek students and staff, gave input to a consulting firm advising the school board on future facility improvements during a Jan. 16 meeting.
On Jan. 7, at First Lutheran Church, a caller said a group of kids overstayed their welcome. No forced entry. No damage. The pastor wanted the kids to understand the consequences of their actions.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, veterans and beneficiaries who receive VA compensation benefits will see an 8.7% increase in their monthly payments, the largest increase in over 30 years.
