Empty Stocking Fund receives a boost from talent show


The 91st annual Empty Stocking Fund Talent Telethon was held Wednesday evening at the Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School Commons.

General Chairman Kelly Wong was thrilled with the $13,996 in donations and pledges collected and the contributions of more than 30 singing and musical acts.

"We were very happy," Wong said. "With the weather so nice we had a good turnout."

The telethon was carried on KWAD Radio.

Diane Peters served as the Empty Stocking Fund Talent Chairman. Mike Ortmann served as the WDC Music Teacher and Talent Assistant.

Among the performers were Ortmann, Val Schmitz, Leah and Kyle Davis, Linda Bobst. Emma Taggart, Cyndi and Kaleah Miller, Kristen Peterson, Marilyn Twete, Hannah Dosdall, Jane Emerson, Eric Roggenkamp, Corey Tackmann, Grace Gallant, Simon and Susan Kreklau, Nicholas Johnson, Noah Ross, Emma Bushinger, Suzanne Moe, Deana Malone, Kim Harrington, Kaylin Lupkes, Cooper Folkestad, Lisa Weniger, Robert Segovia, Kate Schmidt, Ellie Miron, Dennis Rounds, Lisa Winter, Suzanne Moe, Alex Moe, Dan Pape, Maggie Carlson, Pastor Mark Bateson, Deb Haraldson, Amelia Crossen, Ingrid Stinar, Sharon Kempf Hanna Larson, Marilyn Uselman, Kathy Harrison, the Wadena Jazz Band, the Wadena Community Band, Northern Lights Chorale and the choirs of St. John Lutheran, St. Ann's Catholic, Immanuel Lutheran, United Methodist and First Congregational Church of Christ. Pastor Allen Refsland of the Wadena Assembly of God Church delivered the invocation.
