Wadena-Deer Creek High School's drama department will present a public performance of their one-act play, "Tracks" at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 in the Wadena Memorial Auditorium. Admission is free.
Director Beth Hawkins and the student cast are being somewhat tight-lipped when it comes to giving away the one-act play's ending. However, Hawkins did provide a brief overview of the one-act that features 14 students as actors and tech crew members: The drama takes place in a subway station where a group of strangers have arrived with only a few personal belongings, their watches have stopped, and they all claim to be in different cities. Soon they learn there is no way out of the station.
"Tracks" is written by Peter Tarsi, who is a high school physics teacher and drama club advisor in Attleboro, Mass. This is his first one-act play to be published.
The public performance serves as a warm-up for subsection competition on Saturday, Jan. 26 beginning at 9 a.m. at Wadena Memorial Auditorium.
Schools participating and competing include Parkers Prairie (9-9:45 a.m.), Bertha-Hewitt (9:45-10:30 a.m.), Wadena-Deer Creek (10:30-11:15 a.m.) New York Mills (11:15 a.m. - noon), Pequot Lakes (1-1:45 p.m.), Staples-Motley (1:45-2:30 p.m.), and Pillager (2:30-3:15 p.m.).
