Verndale Straw Hat and Sunbonnet Days slated for July 31-Aug. 2

Verndale will hold it's annual Straw Hat and Sunbonnet days Friday, July 31 through Sunday, Aug. 2. The schedule is as follows:

Friday, July 31

Old Timers baseball game

Saturday, Aug. 1

Run for the Arts 5K walk/run, 10K run, 7 a.m.

Verndale Fire Department fundraiser golf tournament, 8 a.m.

Golf scramble, 9 a.m.

Volleyball tournament at Bullseye Bar & Grill, 10:30 a.m.

Historical Society Museum open, 1-5 p.m.

Historical Society horse wagon rides, 4-6 p.m.

Inflatable 18 foot giant slide, 45 foot sport obstacle and more, 4-9 p.m.

Kids games in the park, 5-7 p.m.

Bean bag tournament, 5 p.m.

Kiddie parade, 6 p.m.

Grand parade, 7 p.m.

Lions Duck Drop, after parade (about 8 p.m.)

Messy Bessy, 8:30 p.m.

Live band and street dance, 9 p.m.

Fireworks, dusk (about 10 p.m.)

Sunday, Aug. 2

Pancake breakfast, 9-1 p.m.

Family Life Church C.R.E.W. youth ministry, 9 a.m.

Softball tournament registration followed by tournament, 10 a.m.

Food and a beer garden will be set up in the park throughout the weekend as well.
