Richwood Winery's Summer Solstice Festival set for June 18
Richwood Winery's Summer Solstice Festival is set for Saturday, June 18, from 2 to 8 p.m. Besides live music by not just one, but two different acts, there will also be wine, food, arts and craft vendors, games for the kids and plenty of fun for the whole family to enjoy.
DETROIT LAKES — Richwood Winery, located just outside the tiny hamlet of Richwood north of Detroit Lakes, is getting ready to host one of its two main seasonal events: The Summer Solstice Festival, which gets underway this Saturday, June 18 at 2 p.m.
While the event takes place rain or shine, organizers always hope for good weather to bring in the crowds, said Richwood Winery Coordinator Deborah Krogsgaard.
Typically, it brings in about 300 people each year, with a family-friendly atmosphere that includes yard games for the kids as well as about a dozen arts and craft vendors, a food truck — courtesy of Osage's Blue Line Barbecue — and live music.
Those interested in signing up to be a vendor at the festival can contact Krogsgaard at 651-283-7930, she added.
"We will accept vendors right up until the morning of the festival," Krogsgaard said. "The more the merrier!"
Live music will also be playing, with Detroit Lakes' own Dan Holt and JustUs both scheduled to perform. Holt takes the stage promptly at 2 p.m., and will play until approximately 4:30, while JustUs is set to perform from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The gates close at 8 p.m., Krogsgaard added.
"We also have live music every Saturday this summer," she said.
