The Wadena County Relay for Life event surpassed organizer goals of $20,000, bringing in over $23,000 during the one day event Aug. 9, at Sunnybrook Park in Wadena. That's up $5,000 from the 2018 event.
Co-chairs of the event Dinah Russo and Travis Allen said around 1,400 luminaries were sold in the months leading up the event.
New this year was a corn hole tournament, with the winning team "Been There." The team members were Bruce Langendorfer from Wahpeton and Wayne Heitkap from Breckinridge. Eight teams participated, according to Allen.
