Miss Wadena Scholarship Pageant is Saturday

"Let's Rock This Town" is the theme for this year's Miss Wadena Scholarship Pageant.

The pageant starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at Wadena Memorial Auditorium. Advanced tickets are $5 and tickets at the door are $6. Tickets are available at Thrifty White Drug or from any of the contestants. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

This year 10 contestants are vying for the crown.

Elise Kallevig

Elise Jean Kallevig, daughter of Dean and Jean Kallevig, is sponsored by Kal's Kars. She enjoys playing the piano, reading, spending time with family and friends and listening to music. Having graduated high school this year, she plans to attend Crown College for Elementary Education, and afterward go to China and be a missionary/English teacher.

Kassi Peterson

Kassi Peterson, daughter of Todd and Samantha Peterson, is sponsored by Jenson Construction Company. She enjoys knitting, dancing and singing. After graduating high school in 2016, she plans to attend Minnesota State University - Moorhead for English Education and Teaching English as a Second Language. She also would like to teach in a different country for a year.

Autumn Jahnke

Autumn Sarah Jahnke, daughter of Scott and Vicki Jahnke, is sponsored by Kern Electronics. She enjoys dancing, singing, being outside, fishing, four-wheeling, being at the lake and hanging out with friends and family. A 2015 graduate, she plans to attend M State Community and Technical College in Wadena for Nursing, and will be working as well.

Alyssa Gilster

Alyssa Gilster, daughter of Terry and Deb Gilster, is sponsored by Moore Sensational Looks. She enjoys acting, singing, reading, writing, scrapbooking and spending time with family and friends. A 2015 graduate, she plans to attend Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, Wis. to finish general education courses, then attend University of Wisconsin - Whitewater to major in Secondary Education.

Athea Perez

Athea Jae Perez, daughter of Colleen and Andy Perez, is sponsored by 1776. She enjoys photography and spending time with her family. After graduating in 2016, she plans to study social sciences and become a teacher.

Kristyn Ament

Kristyn Mackenzie Ament, daughter of Wayne and Missy Ament, is sponsored by Wayne Ament Construction and Rhonda Rudes Specialty Sales. She enjoys dancing and working out, as well as spending time with her family and friends doing outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. A 2015 graduate, she plans to attend M State in Wadena with the goal of becoming a registered nurse.

Lacey Malone

Lacey Lee Malone, daughter of Ron and Eileen Malone, is sponsored by M&W Construction and Cabinets. She enjoys fishing, dancing, cheerleading, hunting, horseback riding and anything outdoors. After graduating in 2016, she plans to attend college to study Elementary Education.

Tabetha Baker

Tabetha Baker, daughter of Kevin and Tiffany Baker, is sponsored by Wadena Burger King. She enjoys watching movies, photography, gardening and baking. A 2015 graduate, she plans to go to school to be a nurse and learn sign language.

Kayla Hanson

Kayla Hanson, daughter of Darin Hanson, is sponsored by Central Minnesota Credit Union. She enjoys dancing, singing, shopping, self-study, anatomy and watching Grey's Anatomy. A 2015 graduate, she will be attending the University of Kansas this fall and will major in Biology with a minor in Business.

Maizie Miller

Maizie Miller, daughter of Rob and Melissa Olson, is sponsored by Thrifty White Drug. She enjoys cheerleading, music, sewing, reading, watching movies and hanging out with friends and family. After graduating in 2016, she plans to attend South Dakota State University to major in Biology.
