Hospice of the Red River Valley is offering a six-week grief support group open to any adult grieving the loss of a loved one through death. This group offers attendees a safe, supportive environment for sharing their grief and learning from others who have experienced a loss through death. Please note: Participants must be able to attend the first session to participate in the series. In Detroit Lakes, classes will be Thursdays, Sept. 26, Oct. 3, 10, 24, 31 and Nov. 7 (no class Oct. 17) from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hospice of the Red River Valley, 1111 Highway 10, Detroit Lakes. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 19.

Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative will hold its annual Member Appreciation Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at its headquarters at 50 Ash Avenue. There will be electric vehicles on display for members to view and even test drive. The event is taking place during National Drive Electric Week.

Local authors Jill and Deane Johnson will be at the Wadena City Library at 11 a.m. to discuss their most recent book, Little Minnesota in WWII.

Wadena Seventh Day Adventist Church, 14711 125th Ave., will hold an Astronomy Space Show at 11 a.m., and another show at 2 p.m. titled “Dinosaurs! T Rex, The Flood, The Bible & The Garden of Eden”. Both productions are free of charge.

SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) is offering classes to improve strength, balance and fitness for seniors. A Senior Health Clinic sponsored by Wadena County Public Health will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Wadena County Public Health. Health screening including blood pressure, foot care, health information and referrals are provided. There is a $15.50 fee for foot care. Bring your MN Health Plan card if you have one. Wadena Whirlaways Square Dance Inc. group will be at the Wadena VFW. Dancing starts at 7:30 p.m. and will end at 10 p.m. The caller will be Phil Miller, and the theme is Animals.

Community Dinner will be hosted by Zion Free Lutheran Church & United Methodist Church and held at St. John Lutheran Church, 710 Franklin Ave. SW. The menu includes BBQ’s, baked beans, coleslaw, chips, bars and a beverage. All are welcome, this event is free.
