The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with BNSF Railroad and other partner agencies will be conducting a full- scale exercise from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, near the Verndale Community Center.

The exercise will simulate a train derailment in the city and will enable first responders to practice response plans to such an event. This exercise will be treated as realistic as possible, so expect some road closures, delays and loud noises. There will be a large presence of first responders in and around the Verndale area.

If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact Deputy Tyler Wheeler at the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, 218- 631-7795.
