Benefit for Doug Weller is Feb. 3
A benefit for Doug Weller is planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Bluffton Community Center.
Weller recently had open heart surgery for the second time in 11 years. His surgery went well but now he must go through the difficult process of rehabilitation. A benefit was organized to assist Weller with medical expenses.
Weller was a truck driver prior to his recent heart complications. He had to leave that position last October. Weller was having trouble breathing and struggled to conduct deliveries. He went on disability before having surgery on Dec. 13. He was in the hospital for two weeks.
Currently, Weller is doing well. His wife Janeen discussed Weller's many health related issues and was ecstatic to hear about the benefit and how so many people came together to help Weller. Weller has endured heart problems twice in his life in addition to surviving cancer.
Over the course of six weeks, the benefit was organized. It will be comprised of a raffle and silent auction. Chili and potato soup will also be served. Organizers of the benefit are requesting a free will donation.
Guns, gift cards, quilts, and other items will all be auctioned off in an effort to support Weller.
