Wadena Pioneer Journal and Perham Focus publisher promoted and moving on, former publisher back with expanded role
Jason Miller, publisher of the Perham Focus and Wadena Pioneer Journal for the past 2 1/2 years, has been promoted to Director of Integrated Media Operations for Forum Communications Company. He will begin his new role on Jan. 21. In his role, he will oversee multiple production departments for the company.
"I really enjoyed my time in Perham and Wadena," Miller said. "I'm proud to have played a small part in helping deliver readers a quality newspaper that they can be proud of. The staffs in Perham and Wadena are top-notch and really care about their communities, and it shows in the work. I'm happy I could be a part of that."
Prior to being named publisher in Perham and Wadena, Miller held various positions at The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, including Presentation Editor, Deputy Editor and Sports Editor. He started his career with Forum Communications in 1999 in The Forum's sports department.
Back in her old stomping grounds
Detroit Lakes Publisher Melissa Swenson is also being promoted to serve as a regional publisher that will include Perham and Wadena. Swenson has been with Forum Communications Company since October of 1999 when she was hired as the regional marketing director in the Lakes Group Division. She then went on to become the publisher of the Perham Focus and eventually the Wadena Pioneer Journal. In July of 2016 she was made publisher of the Detroit Lakes Tribune.
Swenson has had a career in radio, television and print media for 33 years. "I am very happy to be able to be involved again with the Perham Focus and Wadena Pioneer Journal while continuing my time at the Detroit Lakes Tribune. Each newspaper has extremely talented individuals who make up award-winning teams. I am grateful to be a part of this tradition of excellence."
Swenson and her husband Tim reside in Detroit Lakes. They have three grown children and two dogs.
