The Staples Area Men’s Chorus will debut its first collaborative community performance involving high school and community musical groups from other area cities. This Christmas collaboration features the famous musical work of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria” kicking off the Christmas season with four local concerts. The primary focus of this event is to merge the talents of these local groups together to provide everyone an opportunity to participate and experience Vivaldi’s “Gloria” firsthand with a mass chorus and full orchestra accompaniment.

On Saturday, Nov.30 at approximately 1 a.m., Wadena Police responded to a domestic disturbance Saturday. Joshua Edwin Blais, 36, of Alexandria allegedly assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the face knocking her dentures out of her mouth. Blais then fled the scene.
The Wadena Police Department responded to Super One Foods to assist the Loss Prevention Officer Tuesday, Nov. 26, in an apprehension of a shoplifter that was out of control and they were struggling in the parking lot. When officers arrived they placed the female suspect, 38 year old Tracy Lynn Lindberg of Sandstone, Minn., into the back seat of the squad car. During the investigation of this shoplifting, Tracy appeared to officers as if she was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Several Wadena residents went on a pilgrimage to the Shrines Of Italy in November. Forty-one people were able to get close to Pope Francis at the papal audience on the morning of Wednesday Nov. 13 in Rome at the Vatican. The journey also allowed travelers to experience many events and places including the Sistine Chapel, St. Peters Basilica, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and Pompeii.
Betty Kneisl, a Wadena businesswoman, died Nov. 22 at her home in Parkers Prairie after suffering a back injury along with osteoporosis. Betty did commercial sewing for many years including sewing at Homecrest from 1987 to 1993. She sewed boat cushions out of her home for Lund Boats until 2005 when she and her husband Larry purchased the Wadena U-Stor and Lok business from Ollie and Vi Haugo. The husband and wife team expanded the business seven times in the last eight years.
On Monday, Nov. 25 in the early afternoon officers of the Wadena Police Department responded to an apartment located on the 200 block of 3rd Street Southwest in Wadena for a landlord tenant issue. After officers arrived they learned that the tenant, Doyle Lee Leitheiser, 38, had brandished a knife at his landlord.
