To keep pace with the increased needs of Wadena and surrounding communities, Tri-County Health Care (TCHC) is expanding its campus. The expansion will accommodate additional providers and services to meet the needs of area patients. Starting Monday, the public will begin to see changes beginning to develop at TCHC.
A Lions pancake breakfast will be held in Verndale from 7:30 a.m. to noon March 30 at Verndale Community Center. There will also be an Easter coloring contest with cash prizes awarded in four categories during the event, which is a free-will offering. Entries can be picked up at Wayne’s Discount in Verndale. A bike will also be given away to the best entry. Those who attend the pancake breakfast will each get one vote to pick the winner. Voting will end at 11 a.m., and prizes will be awarded at noon.
Monroe Crossing will give a concert at James Mann Auditorium in New York Mills on Friday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Before the concert, the band will give a workshop on bluegrass music for students at the school. Monroe Crossing is known for their bluegrass and bluegrass gospel. They have performed in both the U.S. and Canada.
A Relay For Life Cancer Survivor Open House will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. The fundraising event will benefit Relay For Life, and the 2013 challenge theme is “Who Will You Relay For?” For more information on how to volunteer or help promote Relay For Life programs, call 218-631-1414.
Glenn Scott Kassahn, 46, of Richville, was sentenced March 4 in Otter Tail County District Court following drug charges. He was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail and ordered to pay fines of $1,160.
The driver of the pickup truck that struck and killed a man in downtown Perham in December will not be facing criminal charges. Perham Police Chief Jason Hoaby said Monday that no criminal negligence was found during an investigation of the accident, and the case will be closing. The driver was identified as 85-year-old Lloyd Ramsay, of Perham.
Brandon James Hansen, 27, who last year was found with methamphetamine at Little Pine Lake near Perham, was sentenced in Otter Tail County District Court earlier this month. The Sebeka resident will serve 180 days in the county jail, with two days credited for time already served.
