It was one of the most dastardly deeds ever perpetrated on the century-old town of Vergas. Motorists driving past the scenic city park Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, were disturbed to see the "World's Largest Loon" desecrated with red and blue paint, and with graffiti--some of it profane. "We've never had anything like this happen to our loon," said city clerk Pat Ehlke. "I've lived here all my life....This is very sad." The city is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprits.
