Les Gunderson is biking for a cause. Unlike some of his Harley Davidson counterparts who recently swept through the area for the Ronald McDonald Run, Gunderson's bike moves the old fashioned way, one peddle rotation at a time. With each of the 500 miles he will be covering during the week of July 15-21 he will be rolling in funds to support Habitat for Humanity.

HOL Football shuffle continues Maybe there will be a Heart O' Lakes football conference after all. The Minnesota State High School League said the conference couldn't be dissolved until 2009 because the conference hadn't followed proper procedure. The conference has undergone changes in the last year, the members leaving, and new members joining, with the league going from eight teams, to 10, then to 14, then back to 12. Now, it appears the conference will have 14-teams in the 2008 season. That will include two members, Staples-Motley and Thief River Falls.
Amazing shots at PLGC Two "Great Shots" happened at Perham Lakeside GC in the last two weeks. Perham Junior Nick Dockter scored a rare double-eagle on Maple No. 3. Dockter hit a driver and 6-iron on the par 5, 467 yard hole. Dockter joins Bob Cavanagh and Nick Anderson as the only other Perham locals to perform the feat, slated by the USGA as five times rarer than a hole-in-one. Both scored their deuce on Oak No. 1. Don Riepe followed two days later with a hole-in-one on Pine No. 3. It was Riepe's first ace and the first on the 8-year-old, 187-yard hole.
