She was born June 16, 1934 in Cohocton, N.Y. to William Casper and Sylvia (Pulver) Marshall. She graduated from Dundee Central School in Dundee, N.Y. with the class of 1952. She received a bachelor degree at St. Francis College in Joliet, Ill. She was employed as a registered nurse in New York and Arizona. On April 29, 1955, she married Harry Joseph Cowan, Sr. in Derry, Pa. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Harry passed away in July 1981. She enjoyed her occupation as a traveling nurse.
She was born Aug. 22, 1928 in Deer Creek to Adolph Wickstrom and Geneva (Green) Wickstrom. She attended Deer Creek Public Schools and graduated in 1946. She earned her degree from Moorhead State Teachers college in 1948. After her graduation, she taught for one year in Adrian, Minn., before moving to LeRoy, where she continued teaching until 1953. She married Vernon "Chub" Iverson on June 22, 1951 in Bowling Green, Ohio. They lived and farmed in LeRoy until moving to Alaska for Chub's military assignment in 1954. They returned to LeRoy to resume farming 19 months later.
He was born Nov. 14, 1936, to Frank and Veronica (Uselman) in Wadena. He served honorably in the Army from December 1959 to March 1962. He married Barbara Jean Kliber on June 22, 1968 in Little Falls. He will be remembered as a lifelong member of the community. He farmed for 40 years while also doing truck maintenance for 25 years at Cenex and Northern Coop, and working as a tire technician for Polman Transfer for 20 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren.
Jean Lucille Flanigan, 69, of Amery, Wis., formerly of Sebeka, passed away May 21, 2009, in Amery. The Mass of Christian Burial was held May 23 at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Casketbearers were Billy Butler, Waylon Butler, Stephen Butler, Robert Nagel, Tim Flanigan, Jr., and Paul Flanigan. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona, Minn.
Susan Ann Heather, 61, of Yuma, Ariz., died May 19, 2009. She was born to John and Mary Penniston on July 26, 1947, in St. Cloud, Minn. She graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral in 1965. She married William Dale Heather on March 8, 1969, in Wadena. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. She was a talented artist with her woodburning and special crocheting items. She was a member of Zion Free Lutheran in Wadena before she moved to Yuma, Ariz., in 1993.
Gary Dean Pederson, age 67, passed away on May 23, 2009, at home with his family. Gary was born on Nov. 19, 1941, to Elmer and Irene Pederson (Frame) at Oylen, Minn. It was in that same area he attended country school near his home. As a young man, Gary helped his parents with their mink farm. Gary loved to hunt, fish, trapping, travel, enjoyed music, cards and games. Gary also enjoyed woodcarving. In Arizona, loved shuffleboard and playing poker. Gary was a very giving person, lending a helping hand or sharing his garden joys with the community.
Clyde "Doug" Douglas Swanson, 88, of Nimrod, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minn. He was born to Fred and Sela (England) Swanson on March 25, 1921, in Rosholt, S.D. After completing his schooling, he enlisted in the Army on Oct. 19, 1942 and was honorably discharged on Sept. 24, 1943. He farmed most of his life, he did some carpentry work and he was active in the community.
Roger Herbert Wallace, 63, of Perham, passed away May 23, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 1, 1945, in Perham to Herbert Theodore and Lenora Luella (Steebe) Wallace. He attended Perham High School and graduated with the class of 1964. On April 30, 1966, he married Mary Jane Frost at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. They made their home in St. Paul for a short time then moved to Hutchinson, Minn., where he worked at the power plant for eight years. They moved back to New York Mills in 1973 where he was employed at Lund Boats until 1995.
Bonnie Jean Hansen, 75, of Hewitt, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. She was born Sept. 3, 1933, at Sioux City, Iowa to Jim and Minnie Hewitt. She married Roger DeWane Hansen on Nov. 4, 1950. The lived for a time at Graceville, Minn., and Sioux City, Iowa. They moved to a farm in the Hewitt area 40 years ago and farmed for many years before retiring and moving into Hewitt. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting and cooking. She was an avid Christian. Funeral services were held Monday, June 1, at the Domian-Anderson Funeral Home in Bertha with the Rev.
Roger William Robb, 85, of Industry, Ill., formerly of New York Mills, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in Tulsa, Okla., while he was en route to a grandson's wedding in Texas. He was born in Compton Township in 1924 to William and Ella (Kautz) Robb. He graduated from Wadena High School in 1941 and attended Bemidji State University before entering the Navy in 1943. He was commissioned as a naval aviator in 1944 and served on the USS Raleigh. He retired from the Navy on July 1, 1964, with the rank of lieutenant commander. He married Francis Barmus on June 8, 1946 in Scranton, Pa.
